Full Time:
Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Position Summary: The Medical Receptionist is responsible for handling the patient flow at the front desk. This includes answering incoming calls, directing calls to appropriate staff, greeting and checking in all patients for office appointments, processing paperwork, scanning insurance cards, entering demographic information into the electronic health record (EMR), entering and calling referrals for office visits into EMR, and working closely with physicians and staff.

  • Greet and direct patients within the practice. Represent the organization and the practice in a positive and professional manner.
  • Obtain patient demographics and verify insurance information at each visit. Scan pertinent patient information into EMR.
  • Answer telephones, take messages, and troubleshoot patient calls.
  • Provide callers with information such as company address, directions, fax numbers, website, and other related information. Collect copays from patients and post payments.
  • Record copays for the day, print the schedule, and match copays with patient information.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments.
  • Obtain prior authorizations.
  • Room patients when Medical Assistant (MA) support is not available.
  • Coordinate with Practice Manager to resolve issues related to facilities, computers, and other office equipment.
  • Receive, sort, and fax incoming reports and distribute to appropriate staff. Assist with ordering, receiving, and stocking of office supplies.
  • Assist with related clerical duties such as photocopying, faxing, scanning, collating, and mailing.
  • Check office for cleanliness; monitor front foyer and bathrooms; assist with patient room cleanup.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • Minimum of a High School diploma;
    Associate’s Degree preferred.
  • One to three years of relevant experience preferred.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Medical and EMR experience preferred.
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and organized.
  • Ability to work independently and also accept direction on given assignments.
  • Collaborative with administration and staff.
  • Pay range: $21-$25 per hour.
