Senior Theatre Practitioner – Scrub
Location: The Portland Hospital, London
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
Shifts: Early (07:30–16:00), Late (12:30–21:00), Long Days (07:30–21:00), 1 Saturday per month, Sundays (Standby for emergency obstetrics)

What You’ll DoAs a Senior Scrub Theatre Practitioner, you’ll be at the heart of a specialist surgical team delivering exceptional care to women and children. You’ll work across our advanced theatre suites, supporting procedures in obstetrics, gynaecology, general surgery, and paediatrics — with opportunities to expand into cardiac and other specialties. This is a hands‑on, fast‑paced role where your clinical expertise and leadership will make a real impact.
You’ll mentor junior staff, uphold the highest standards of safety and care, and contribute to a culture of excellence and innovation. You’ll collaborate with some of the UK’s leading consultants in a setting that blends cutting‑edge technology with compassionate, patient‑centred care.
- HCPC or NMC registration
- Postgraduate experience in theatres
- Scrub experience across a range of specialties
- General surgery theatre experience
- Cardiac theatre experience is desirable — full training will be provided
- Paediatric theatre experience is a plus — training opportunities available
- A collaborative mindset and strong leadership potential
