Overview
Description:
Performs cardiac ultrasound examinations according to physician's orders, utilizing a variety of complex ultrasound equipment. Identifies presence or absence of disease with thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Assists physicians with invasive echocardiography examinations as appropriate. Complies with standards set forth by the American Society of Echocardiography and departmental policies.
- Perform cardiac ultrasound examinations according to physician orders using complex ultrasound equipment.
- Objectively identify presence or absence of disease based on anatomy and physiology knowledge.
- Assist physicians with invasive echocardiography procedures (e.g., transesophageal echocardiography, trans-catheter echo guided procedures, pericardiocentesis, echo-guided myocardial biopsies, contrast-enhanced exams, exercise and pharmacological stress echocardiography).
- Modify procedures to meet special circumstances and provide clinically useful information in a cost-effective manner.
- Adhere to department policies and procedures and to the standards of the American Society of Echocardiography.
- Oregon Sonographer upon hire.
- National Registered Cardiac Sonographer - Cardiovascular Credentialing International upon hire, or
- National Advanced Cardiac Sonographer - Cardiovascular Credentialing International upon hire, or
- National Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer from American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography upon hire.
- National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire.
- Associate's Degree in Applied Science, from a CAAHEP-accredited school in Noninvasive Cardiovascular Technology or Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
- One year of experience performing cardiovascular ultrasound examinations, or
- Minimum of 800 exams using all imaging modalities available.
- Pediatric echocardiography experience.
- Familiarity with imaging support of advanced heart failure patients (mechanical support devices).
- Experience with echo-guided trans-catheter procedures.
Part-Time/Day Shift - 3 (three) 10-hour shifts per week. $4,000 sign-on bonus for eligible external candidates who meet all payment conditions. This position requires shared coverage for standby and call-back emergency studies evenings and weekends, which may include shared regional coverage to other Portland facilities or rotation through weekend shifts.
