Overview
The Primary Care Technician plays a critical role in our patient experience. They provide support in caring for and monitoring of patients during their Primary Care visit at Central City Concern.
Central City Concern is an innovative nonprofit agency providing comprehensive services to single adults and families in the Portland Metro area who are impacted by homelessness, poverty and addictions. Compensation: minimum rate of $20.17 per hour. Final rate offered is influenced by candidate s experience and internal equity.
Minimum Qualifications- High School diploma or GED required.
- Two years of experience in healthcare field preferred.
- Must read and write and have legible handwriting.
- Current CPR certification prior to start.
- Vital sign experience preferred.
- Bilingual (Spanish, Russian) preferred.
- Knowledge and ability to deescalate a combative patient or ability to be trained.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen, TB test, and background check. This includes clearance by the DHS Background Check Unit.

- Must have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, pull and lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds.

- Ability to effectively interact with co-workers and patients with diverse ethnic backgrounds, religious views, cultural backgrounds, life-styles and sexual orientations and treat each individual with respect and dignity.
- Provide support in maintaining a calm, quiet and orderly environment by utilizing verbal and physical de-escalations skills.
- Assist with appointment completion, monitor no shows and assign patients to openings following applicable guidelines and procedures.
- Under the clinical judgement and directions of the provider or Registered Nurse (RN), assist with patient information system support.
- Attend Medical Assistant (MA) huddles when requested.
- Provide each patient with appropriate information, visit logistics and clinic space orientation.
- Obtain patient vital signs such as pulse, temperature, respiration, and blood pressure and chart results in the EMR.
- Obtain patient’s accurate weight and height when necessary and chart results in the EMR.
- Distribute patient surveys and gather patient specific information as assigned.
- Identify out of range vital signs and inform clinical staff.
- Escort patient to room.
- Ensure compliance with all company, state, and federal confidentiality and healthcare regulations.
- Restock supplies as needed.
- Report and document incidents as described in policies and procedures.
- Perform data entry.
- Follow procedures for the disinfecting and sanitizing and keep work area clean and neat.
- Adhere to all state and federal privacy regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, and to CCC policies and agreements regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security. Support compliance with all privacy and security requirements pursuant to community partners’ and outside providers’ patient confidentiality agreements, including privacy and security requirements for EMR access. This includes immediately reporting any breach of protected health information or personal identification information of any person receiving CCC services by CCC or an outside provider to the CCC Compliance Department, as well as to your supervisor or their designee.
