VAD Coordinator
ACLS and BLS required

Minimum 5 years cardiac clinical exp with an understanding of adult cardiology and cardiothoracic critical care pts or a minimum of 3 years current exp including 2 years working with VADs (or equivalent exp).

Looking for an experienced CVICU RN who has recent hands on experience with VADs in the last year, Nurse educator, CVICU charge RN, or Rapid Response RN who responds to CVICU with device experience. A candidate who has precepting experience to VADs or an educator could also be a good fit.

2+ years working with VADS is ideal.

LVAD coordinator will provide care inpt as well as in the ambulatory/outpt space. They will attend selection meetings, partner with the care team, and continuously evaluate patients understanding of the device/care/goals. There are 4 LVAD coordinators. On call is shared with all coordinators.

LVAD coordinator will manage inbaskets, triage signs and symptoms.

LVAD coordinator will help support and facilitate competency of OHSU staff.

LVAD care coordinator, prior CVICU exp (candidate with recent hands on LVAD experience), potentially someone with Clinic exp (who would understand outpt work flow).

LVAD Coordinator will follow patient from OR when device is implanted (device vendor will also be present in OR with placement) as well as accompany the pt to any non-vad related surgeries to assist with the device. LVAD Coordinator needs to have understanding of how device operates, troubleshoot and manage their care throughout the pts hospitalization (change batteries, dressing changes, patient/family teaching).

FROM OHSU JD:
OHSU vad coordinator is responsible for coordinating the comprehensive specialized care for advanced heart failure patients in both the inpatient and outpatient environment. These patients are candidates for advanced heart failure therapy using MCS/VAD support with the intent of one either bridge to transplant or destination therapy. In this position, the coordinator will collaborate in the development, implementation and maintenance of all aspects of care for patients with a VAD in combination with physicians and other members of multidisciplinary care team.
In addition, the VAD coordinator to demonstrate autonomy with respect to patient evaluation optimal treatment and follow up care. Through knowledge and experience of the VAD coordinators should have the skill set to coordinate and manage the patient care of this high risk patient population throughout the continuum. Furthermore, the individual were ensure optimization of the patient's clinical, functional, and psychosocial status.

This person provides the communication link and developing patient care among the multidisciplinary team members including social work and transplant team.
They can organize and orchestrate INTERMACS and DNV Disease-Specific VAD certification focusing on continuingly improving patient outcomes; assisting and pre authorization process; facilitate participation in cardiovascular/cardiothoracic surgery-related clinical research trials. The VAD coordinator can support professional knowledge and healthcare management through effective interactions and communications with clinicians, healthcare administrators, community agencies and other professionals.
A key component of this position is the ability and responsibility of 24/7 on call for both inpatient and outpatient. In this role the VAD coordinator is working closely with OHSU medical teams, VAD vendors and outside facilities to maximize the medical management of patients in the VAD Program. As an administrator, the VAD Coordinator is responsible for overseeing internal and external staff education and competencies as well as management and maintenance of all VAD related equipment and supplies.

• Working with the various members of the multi-interdisciplinary team in delivering both inpt and outpatient care.

• Facilitate VAD education to patients and their families, nursing, cath lab techs, perfusionist, in house staff and EMS personnel.
