Job Description: Transition Coordinator, Program Analyst 2, Limited Duration/Job Rotation for ODOC and OCE Employees only (Portland) Columbia River Correctional Institution Oregon Department of Corrections

This position is a limited duration position for external candidates anticipated to last 6 months, though it may be extended or decreased due to business need. For this rotation, internal candidates must be regular status employees of the Oregon Department of Corrections or Oregon Corrections Enterprises, with their current manager’s approval.

This position is located onsite at the Columbia River Correctional Institution in Portland, Oregon.

About the Job - Your Role

Your primary duties will be to direct, manage, and coordinate all activities for the transition programs located at the Institution. You will manage the implementation of new program components, identify and solve problems relating to the successful transition of adults in custody from institution to community, and create and implement program components consistent with sound corrections policy to enhance the adults in custody transition.

Activities typically involve collaboration and coordination with other state agencies, private agencies, and local government.

You will conduct needs assessment to determine what resources and services each adult in custody participating in the program will need. Deliver components of the curriculum such as employment, working with a parole officer (PO), family, financial management, etc. Facilitate group discussion. Record data, track participants, and participation details. Meet with release counselor and PO to discuss inmate progress and activities, identify special needs, and coordinate PO reach-in.

Work with resource providers to create linkages to needed services.

This position is represented by AFSCME. This position may be eligible for Police & Fire benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a degree related to the agency program that demonstrates the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and two years' experience coordinating or administering a program

OR

Any combination of experience or education equivalent to five years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skill requirements listed for the classification.
