PURPOSE:Coordinate financial tracking and analysis activities to support effective funding proposals, grant reporting, budget management, and audit coordination.

CLASSIFICATION
:
Fulltime*, non-exempt.
* 32 hours/week is considered full-time at EMO.
BENEFITS

Wage range starts at $36.19 per hour. All regular employees (does not include on-call or temporary) are eligible for vacation, holidays, sick leave, 401(k) retirement plan, employee assistance program and employee trainings.

EMO has an organization-wide Pay Equity Plan (PEP). This PEP provides standardized increases to base pay for staff who have technical skills or specialized training beyond the minimum qualifications for a job, significant prior experience in similar roles, language skills relevant to the position, and/or who hold academic/professional degrees or certifications related to the role.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Fund development and reporting:collaborate with the Development team to provide accurate financial data for grant proposals and grant reports.
- Budget development, tracking and analysis:prepare and distribute monthly department/program financial statements and develop and maintain financial tracking dashboards and other tools for managing program and organizational budgets.
- Grant compliance support:lead cross-functional meetings to coordinate compliance with grant requirements, including timely assignment of personnel expenses to appropriate cost centers and timely submission of expense requests to align with grant time-frames, deliverables and spending-down of funds.
- Accounting reconciliation:collaborate with Development staff and program staff to reconcile revenue and expense tracking systems and databases.
- Team co-lead:collaborate with Senior Bookkeeper to provide training, task supervision and quality control for Accounting Specialists, and troubleshoot issues, as needed.
- Assist with annual audit by running reports, pulling transaction documents and providing materials to auditors in a timely manner; ensure audit readiness throughout the year.
- Prepare and post general ledger journal entries in accordance with GAAP and fund accounting principles.
- Assist the Finance Director with cash flow projections.
- Assist with developing and maintaining internal policies and procedures to ensure the quality and integrity of the financial accounting system and share knowledge to help build internal capacity around accounting best practices and systems use.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Commitment to the mission, vision and ethics of EMO, and ability to maintain an understanding of the services provided by the programs and projects of EMO.
Required
- At least five years of nonprofit fund accounting experience.
- At least two years of experience using MIP accounting software.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and fund accounting principles.
- Experience with financial tracking, analysis and reporting in an organization with at least five separate grant funding sources that include government contracts.
- At least five years of experience assisting with single-audit preparation.
- Expert level of competency with Microsoft Excel
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Acute attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to analyze data and identify discrepancies.
- Strong organization skills and ability to handle multiple time-sensitive tasks with tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and lead co-workers to work collaboratively to contribute to process improvement efforts.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate financial information to people without a technical background.
