Senior Accountant

Overview

Our client is a prominent organization in the area with a business segment in the infrastructure and construction sector, known for managing large-scale, complex projects. They are seeking a Senior Accountant to join their finance leadership team in a role that balances technical accounting with operational financial management. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, this position is a key contributor to the organization’s fiscal health.

You will handle everything from construction job costing and debt covenant compliance to high-level technical research and process optimization.

• Financial Reporting and Compliance:
  Prepare and review monthly internal and external reports, including the quarterly debt covenant certificates required by various lenders.
• Financial Reporting and Compliance:
  Take full ownership of the monthly statement of cash flows and ensure it aligns with US GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Financial Reporting and Compliance:
  Interface with external audit teams and lead the administration of the company’s annual audits.
• Technical Accounting and Research:
  Research and analyze technical positions regarding GAAP, specifically focusing on the implementation of new policies and standards.
• Technical Accounting and Research:
  Review debt, lease, and other corporate agreements for accounting considerations and draft technical memos to summarize their financial impacts.
• Technical Accounting and Research:
  Maintain the Chart of Accounts (COA) and reporting structures to ensure consistency and completeness across the organization.
• Operational Accounting and Close:
  Manage a wide range of month-end close duties, including complex balance sheet reconciliations and revenue recognition compliance.

  Oversee construction-specific accounting tasks, such as job costing and warranty receivable transactions.

  Perform quarterly balance sheet flux analysis and monthly corporate overhead analysis to identify trends and anomalies.

  Analyze complex financial data to provide management with actionable recommendations for profit improvement and risk reduction.

  Partner with IT and FP&A teams on system enhancements and reporting initiatives.

  Support a cycle of continuous improvement by applying structured problem-solving techniques to create robust, enduring workflows.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting.
• 3+ years of accounting experience, demonstrated experience in the real estate development or property management sectors desired.
• Excellent in-depth knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting aspects.
• Proficient with ERP systems; experience with Yardi is a plus.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills for frequent interaction with executive leadership.

Salary: $85,000 - $95,000
