Overview
Monte Vista Homes, a leading home builder in Oregon, is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to join our team. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is accountable for the financial strategy, financial health, and long-term economic sustainability of Monte Vista Homes and its affiliated entities. This role owns all financial planning, land development pro formas, cash forecasting (including ESOP projections), capital strategy, and financial decision support, while providing leadership and accountability over the entire accounting function through the Director of Accounting.
This position is located in Bend, OR. Candidates must be willing and able to commute or relocate to the Bend area. Relocation assistance is possible for the right candidate. - Translate operational plans into clear, actionable financial outcomes.
- Be fully accountable for all land development pro formas, including acquisition, development, takedown schedules, and returns analysis.
- Evaluate and stress-test land and vertical construction assumptions to ensure risk-adjusted decision-making.
- Company-wide cash forecasting, including short-term, mid-term, and long-term projections.
- Accountable for ESOP cash flow projections, repurchase obligation modeling, and long-term sustainability planning.
- Provide leadership and accountability to the Director of Accounting, who is responsible for day-to-day accounting execution.
- Ensure accounting systems, structures, and reporting evolve as the business scales.
- Manage banking and lender relationships, including debt structures, covenant compliance, renewals, and negotiations.
- Oversee investor and ESOP financial reporting in partnership with the Director of Accounting.
- Serve as a key financial contact for CPAs, auditors, trustees, attorneys, and financial advisors.
- Maintain relevant Scorecard metrics and ensure financial data supports effective IDS and decision-making.
- Actively identify financial risks and opportunities and bring them forward proactively.
- Seek ways to improve financial visibility, accuracy, efficiency, and profitability.
- Exceptional financial modeling and pro forma expertise, particularly in land development, residential construction projects and long-term cash and capital planning.
- Deep understanding of homebuilding, land development, and construction finance
- Strong working knowledge of job cost accounting and construction-based financial reporting
- Proven ability to lead finance at a strategic level, not just transactional accounting
- Demonstrated experience with multi-entity structures, debt structures, covenants, and lender relationships, and investor and ESOP financial reporting
- Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to non-financial leaders
- High integrity and ability to handle confidential, proprietary, and sensitive information
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field required (MBA, CPA, or CFA strongly preferred)
- Strategic, analytical, and forward-thinking mindset
- Extremely strong Excel / financial modeling capability
- High financial acumen paired with practical business judgment
- Comfortable making recommendations that protect margins and long-term value
- Clear, confident communicator (written and verbal)

- $180,000 annually
