About the Opportunity
Were seeking an experienced Tax Supervisor with a strong background in corporate taxation preferably those who bring Big 4 experience and a passion for public sector challenges. Join our large, dynamic tax team as we support a capital-intensive utility undergoing exciting transformation in the clean energy space.
This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring accurate tax treatment of tangible and intangible assets, focusing on tax depreciation and deferred income taxes. You ll become a technical expert in interpreting complex tax laws, managing utility-specific fixed asset systems, and leading a team all while working with big data in a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.
Responsibilities- Manage and utilize specialized tax-fixed asset software (expert training provided).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support tax data reporting for provisions, returns, budgets, and regulatory filings.
- Provide oversight and technical review of work produced by junior personnel.
- Lead, coach, and develop tax staff while managing daily operational activities.
- Support audits and information requests from tax and regulatory authorities.
- Conduct regulatory flow-through and variance analyses to inform reporting strategies.
- Drive process improvement and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in corporate taxation, or 6 years with CPA licensure.
- Strong background in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Proven ability to interpret and apply complex tax rules and manage large data sets.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- CPA designation strongly preferred.
- Experience with utilities or highly capitalized industries.
- Prior employment with a Big 4 accounting firm.
