Credit Analyst III

The Credit Analyst III collaborates with relationship managers to gather and evaluate commercial credit information on current and prospective customers, preparing written reports with in-depth analysis of financial statements, cash flow, ratio analysis, credit structure, industry analysis, and risk identification.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Read, review, and understand various financial statements including tax returns, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, aging schedules, borrowing base certificates, debt schedules, equipment lists, credit bureau reports, rent rolls, lease agreements, and appraisals.
- Prepare financial spreads for various types of commercial and real estate businesses, municipalities, non‑profits, and individuals acting as direct obligation borrowers or guarantors.
- Analyze creditworthiness of commercial applicants and guarantors by reviewing the loan application, spreading historical and projected financial statements, calculating cash flows, leverage, and liquidity ratios, evaluating collateral, researching borrowers and industries, and identifying risks.
- Analyze findings and author a comprehensive report of analysis using data analysis (charts, formulas, graphs) and written narrative.
- Evaluate credit quality and suggest proper risk rating based on analysis of the most recent financial information.
- Possess proficiency relative to credit transactions and analytical skills sufficient to enable independent underwriting of commercial requests with limited guidance.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and stay updated on federal regulations and FIB credit policy requirements.
- Assist the Relationship Manager in preparing reports for quarterly monitoring of classified and scrutinized commercial relationships.
- Complete financial performance metric covenant testing using prepared financial spreads.
- Manage assigned portfolio.
- Participate in quality control program with monthly review of general forms, spreads, and analysis, providing feedback and mentoring.
- Participate in production and development of training materials and assist delivery via various channels.
- Mentor junior analysts in credit acumen development.
- Serve as a resource for Relationship Managers and other analysts on loan policy, structuring, and underwriting recommendations.

- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with Relationship Managers, Credit Officers, and Risk Management personnel.
- Adaptability to fast‑paced, changing priorities, setting priorities and meeting strict deadlines.
- Self‑motivated with ability to assist in credit risk decisions.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Quickly acclimate to other programs.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or related field required.
- 7‑9 years of banking experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- 4‑6 years experience in a similar position required.
- Experience with financial spread software required.
- Commercial banking experience preferred.
- Dexterity of hands/fingers to operate computer keyboard and mouse – Frequently.
- Lifting – Occasionally (up to 10 lbs).
- Sitting – Frequently.
- Noise Level – Moderate.
- Typical Work Hours – M‑F (8‑5).
- Regular and Predictable Attendance – Required.
