Role overview

In this role, the employee will provide expert automation support to production plants across the group, ensuring the reliable operation of automation and control systems. The position involves troubleshooting PLC, HMI, and industrial communication issues, supporting modernization projects, and contributing to the standardization and continuous improvement of automation solutions.

The Automation Technical Service Engineer will work closely with plant maintenance teams, automation engineers, central engineering groups, and external vendors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to production sites in industrial automation and control systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to PLC, HMI, and other automation systems to ensure minimal downtime and operational continuity.
  • Support commissioning, upgrades, and modernization of automation systems for production lines and technological installations.
  • Analyze automation system performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency, and safety.
  • Deliver remote and on-site assistance during failures, troubleshooting, and critical production situations.
  • Develop, modify, and optimize control logic and automation programs for industrial controllers.
  • Participate in the implementation of new production lines, machines, and technological installations from an automation perspective.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation related to automation systems, control logic, and implemented modifications.
  • Support standardization of automation solutions and best practices across production facilities.
  • Provide technical guidance, knowledge transfer, and training to plant maintenance and automation teams.
Key requirements
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in industrial automation; experience supporting multiple production sites is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial automation systems, including PLC and HMI configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Hands‑on experience in PLC programming, diagnostics, and fault resolution.
  • Ability to read and create technical documentation, electrical schematics, and P&.
  • Very good command of English (minimum B2).
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, ability to work under pressure, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Readiness for business travel as required.
  • Candidates must have the legal right to work in the European Union, visa or work permit. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
