ROLEDESCRIPTION:
This is a full-time hybrid role for a Staff Hydrogeologist based in Portland, OR, with the option to work remotely part-time. The Staff Hydrogeologist will assist project managers in the execution of hydrogeologic and water resources projects, support field investigations, assist with data collection and analyses, and contribute to preparation of technical reports to document project findings. Field responsibilities may include measuring water levels in wells, providing oversight during well drilling and rehabilitation projects, conducting aquifer testing, and collecting soil and water samples for laboratory analysis.
Office responsibilities may include analyzing quantitative data, providing scientific interpretations, preparing technical reports, planning and implementing water right transactions, participating in team and client meetings for project scoping and to present findings and results.
- BA or BS degree in geology, hydrogeology, water resource engineering, or closely related field; MS degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum of two years of successful and relevant experience, including project work in groundwater supply, water resources, and/or water rights.
- Strong project management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage tasks and schedules for multiple projects and provide technical assistance in both the field and office in support of groundwater supply investigations, including media sampling, subcontractor oversight, quantitative data analysis, report preparation, and presentation of findings.
- Effective communication skills, including technical writing and the demonstrated ability to speak clearly in public to convey technical ideas to a non-technical audience.
- Oregon and/or Washington Geologist Registration (RG, PG, and/or LHG) or ability to obtain within three years;
Certified Water Rights Examiner (CWRE), a plus. - Familiarity with GIS, data analysis, and modeling software is advantageous.
- Periodically work a flexible schedule, occasionally in excess of 40 hours, and possible evenings, weekends, and holidays based on project requirements.
- Undertake periodic travel, including possible short-and long-term assignments to remote project locations, primarily in Oregon and Washington.
