Summary

Project Management, Construction at PGE uses one scalable project management methodology to manage various types of construction projects and/or programs from new construction to major capital upgrades through the design, engineering procurement, construction, and commissioning phases of the project. It requires working with large teams of subject matter experts and coordinating their activities from cradle to grave through schedules, forecasts, meetings, and reporting.

In this role, you will manage various small to large scale, utility projects and/or programs across distribution, substation, transmission, facilities, communication, generation and interconnection. You must have experience with complex budget and schedule development, RFP and bid processes, and contractor management. Position level:
Staff (p3) or Senior (p4) depending on qualifications. The level will be determined based on the successful applicant’s qualification, experience, and demonstrated skills during the interview process.

  • Senior: Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise, interprets business issues, recommends best practices, solves complex problems with broad perspective, works independently, may lead functional teams or projects.
Key Responsibilities Staff
  • Manages small- to large-scale transmission and distribution (T&D) or generation capital construction activities and oversees associated projects.
  • Develops program processes, activities, and priorities to support long-term strategic asset management and other engineering goals.
  • Serves as program project manager responsible for safety, budget, schedule, scope, resources, compliance, and quality.
  • Acts as project manager for medium- to large-scale projects, accountable for all aspects from development to closeout.
  • Develops technical specifications, prepares RFPs, and evaluates bids in review with a senior PM.
  • Creates overall project plan, including schedule and cost baselines, dependencies, roles, resource requirements, and risk mitigation.
  • Integrates project control processes across PGE organizations.
  • Communicates program/project updates via stakeholder meetings, reports, and presentations, and resolves customer issues.
  • Leads a multidisciplined matrix team, facilitates meetings, and maintains compliance with project management methodologies.
  • Represents and protects PGE’s interests in negotiations with government agencies, utilities and property owners during public meetings.
Senior
  • Manages medium to large scale projects/programs and has the same responsibilities as Staff with additional strategic planning and formal project control processes.
  • Develops strategic plans, assesses technologies and potential sites, estimates capital costs, operating and maintenance costs, and prepares project proposals for RFPs.
  • Establishes formal project control processes, monitors activities, and takes corrective actions for variances.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field.

Experience: Staff: 5+ years in project management, construction management or engineering in a utility setting. Senior: 8+ years in comparable roles, with utility transmission, distribution or generation experience highly…
