Engineering Manager

The Engineering Manager leads the design, development, documentation, testing and delivery of various hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems for industrial applications at Hydra-Power Systems. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with people leadership, project execution, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure designs are delivered on time and meet the highest quality standards.

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers across manifold design, electronic controls, and custom hydraulic power unit disciplines
• Assign, monitor, and balance individual workloads to optimize project schedules and maintain capacity management
• Conduct performance reviews, set goals and support career development
• Foster a culture of engineering rigor, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Support hiring, onboarding, and technical training initiatives

• Lead engineering efforts for industrial applications including hydraulic power units, custom manifolds, and electrical controls & panels
• Provide technical direction on system architecture, component selection, and performance tradeoffs
• Manage the thorough review of designs and documentation to ensure compliance with customer specifications and applicable standards
• Support sales staff in new proposal efforts
• Support troubleshooting of complex field performance issues

• Manage engineering deliverables across multiple projects from concept through production to meet project requirements
• Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with the manufacturing, project management, procurement, sales, quality, and external suppliers/customers
• Manage cost, schedule, performance, and risk throughout the project life

• Track and drive on-time delivery of engineering designs and the resolution of engineering change requests
• Establish and maintain engineering standards, design guidelines, and documentation practices
• Improve processes related to design, manufacturing, change management, configuration control, and validation testing
• Collaborate with the Director of Operations to set and refine engineering goals and priorities

• Oversee the team’s usage of Autodesk Vault, Inventor, AutoCAD, MDtools, Codesys, and PLC programming
• Collaborate with IT on software/hardware upgrades, deployments, and license renewals to ensure optimal workflow
• Maintain part numbers, bills of material and routes in the ERP system (D365)

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related STEM degree.
• 10+ years of experience in a related field preferred, but not required

• Certified Fluid Power Specialist (CFPS) or International Fluid Power Society (IFPS) certification.
• Strong understanding of fluid power, manifolds, weldment design and electrical control systems
• Familiarity with Autodesk Vault, Inventor, AutoCAD, PLC-programming, and Co De Sys .
• Familiarity with multimeters, electrical schematics, DC circuits, and AC circuits.
