Transmission line design encompasses structure spotting and design, conductor sag and blowout calculations, clearance checks, foundation design, hardware selection and fit‑up, and development of bill of materials. The designs also require coordination and providing input to other disciplines to support environmental permitting, right of way acquisition, public involvement, access roads, and construction requirements.

The Transmission Line EIT will work under the direction and supervision of senior engineers to perform the following primary duties:
  • Model, analyze, design, and check transmission lines using PLS‑CADD.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, analyses, and reports.
  • Support senior engineers, project engineers, and project managers to meet project goals and deliverables.
  • Develop design sketches, conceptual drawings, and work with CAD designers to develop construction drawings.
  • Originate transmission line construction packages.
  • Originate bill of materials and support the procurement team throughout the acquisition of materials required to build a transmission line.
  • Participate in field walks to define scope, verify constructability, and/or document existing conditions. These field walks will require occasional short‑term travel (typically 1 to 3 days).
  • Assist the preparation of cost estimates, proposals, and specifications.
  • Coordinate transmission line design with multidisciplinary teams (i.e., environmental, land services, survey, project management, permitting, access roads).
  • Develop feasibility and routing analysis for transmission lines.
  • Provide engineering support during the construction phase by timely answering questions and providing solutions to issues that might arise during construction.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of tower design software.
  • Experience with foundation design for transmission line structures.
  • 2+ years of transmission line design experience.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture.
