Job Summary

We seek a motivated, skilled Sr. Energy Engineer to join our team and support our mission to promote energy efficiency and equity. This role requires a solid foundation in energy engineering, mechanical and electrical systems, and data analysis. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently on assigned tasks, conduct site visits, perform energy assessments, conduct energy efficiency studies, and contribute to project execution with increasing responsibility.

Position

Focus:
High-Tech Sector Energy Project Engineer

This role will work closely with high-tech semiconductor manufacturing facilities, providing holistic support for energy efficiency projects and energy management initiatives. This position requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, including chilled water systems, pumps, fans, humidification, compressed air, and other support systems common to semiconductor manufacturing. You will be a primary point of contact, helping customers identify and evaluate energy efficiency projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide proactive, customer-focused support by managing timelines, maintaining clear communication, and anticipating customer needs.
  • Perform high-level analysis to identify potential energy efficiency opportunities.
  • Conduct detailed energy studies using trend data, power metering, and equipment performance information to estimate savings.
  • Perform Measurement & Verification (M&V) of in-progress and completed energy efficiency projects.
  • Conduct virtual and on-site Facility Management System reviews in collaboration with facility engineers to assess subsystem performance and uncover efficiency opportunities.
  • Support facility energy management initiatives, including Strategic Energy Management (SEM), ISO 50001, and site-specific programs.
  • Coordinate with facility engineers, vendors, design teams, and contractors throughout project development and implementation.
  • Lead or contribute to routine check-in meetings with internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Prepare clear, concise technical reports tailored for non-technical audiences.
  • Track project progress, deliverables, and timelines, supporting basic project management activities.
  • Stay current with energy efficiency technologies, standards, and emerging best practices.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in energy efficiency or industrial systems.
  • Experience with cleanroom mechanical support systems
  • Working knowledge of commercial and industrial mechanical systems and building science, with specific emphasis on chilled water and HVAC
  • Experience in analyzing industrial mechanical systems for energy use and quantifying annual energy savings
  • Ability to identify mechanical and electrical equipment in the field and explain control methods and what retrofits or changes can be implemented to conserve energy. Familiar with the following systems: compressed air, HVAC, fans & pumps, refrigeration, motors and VFDs, and boilers.
