Overview
Peterson Power Systems has a need for a Marine Estimator based at our Hillsboro, OR location.
The Marine Estimator provides sales support to the Sales and Product Support teams. This position works closely with Marine Sales Representatives (MSR’s) and Product Support Sales Representatives (PSSR’s) to review customer needs, specifications, and requirements and develops quotes for MSR’s and PSSR’s to present to customers. Job functions include the following:
- Work with MSR’s, PSSR’s, and customers to fully understand scope of supply and expectations of marine sales and service opportunities. Ensure complete and viable solutions are offered to customers.
- Assist sales team in pre-sale meetings and project development.
- Use Customer Solutions Quoter (CSQ), Salesforce, and Product Support Quoter (PSQ) to develop customer quotes based on needs, project specifications, and project documents, employing value engineering methods to meet or exceed customer needs.
- Thoroughly review contract documents to ensure compliance with specifications and commercial terms.
- Select vendors and issue purchase orders based on quality, compliance with customer’s specifications, pricing, and availability.
- Evaluate Caterpillar and suppliers’ quotes for accuracy of scope content; identify and promote cost improvements.
- On sold projects, clearly communicate with Project Management and Service Operations team all necessary project details and expectations during the handoff process.
- Create and maintain CSQ quote templates to streamline quoting process.
- Assist with documenting sea trial scope of work for service technicians to follow.
- Follow up on projects as needed to ensure completed job; maintain good customer relations through frequent contacts; assist in solving problems and disputes.
- Travel away from base location up to 20% of the time to job sites, attend customer and vendor meetings, and attend meetings at Peterson locations.
Bachelor's Degree from a fully accredited college in Business Management, Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other closely related field; and a minimum of three years of directly related experience in the marine industry; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Must display ability to apply a working knowledge and understanding of the marine industry and related products and services.
