Physical Security Engineer (Data Centers)

Responsibilities- Preliminary assessments
- Concept creation
- Leading designs with support from peers, subject‑matter experts, and BIM designers
- Internal and external problem resolution
- Drawing and specification production
- Customer and vendor accessibility
- Collaborate closely with the security technology team to design and develop security solutions for buildings, facilities, and sites
- Lead security design efforts, create schematics, schedules, and plan drawings; perform calculations for video storage, bandwidth usage, and power loads
- Contribute to cross‑discipline coordination and identify potential conflicts or inconsistencies with architectural, civil, electrical, and instrumentation teams
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within scope
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical/scientific discipline; master’s degree preferred. - Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
- Professional security certifications (CISSP, CPP, PSP, etc.) are a plus.
- 12+ years of professional experience in planning, designing, and commissioning physical security systems and/or communication networks; project management experience is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to learn, dedication to growth, and commitment to working with a strong team.
- Experience working on data center security projects (ideal).
- In‑depth knowledge of physical security systems: video surveillance, access control, biometric systems, intrusion detection, and familiarity with leading manufacturers.
- Conducting vulnerability and risk assessments with a clear understanding of various assessment methodologies.
- Evaluating emerging security technologies and analyzing trade‑offs.
- Strong understanding of network technologies and cybersecurity principles.
- Exceptional problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to collaborate in a team environment and provide/receive constructive feedback.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam and design collaboration tools.
- Experience with Revit, ACC, BIM
360, AutoCAD, and/or Micro Station. - Thorough knowledge of CSI design and construction specifications.
- Experience estimating and scheduling mid‑to‑large‑scale project design effort.
- Knowledge of construction cost estimating for security implementation.
