Riverpoint Medical in Northeast Portland is hiring a Manager of Manufacturing Engineering - New Product Introduction
. At Riverpoint you will be part of the process that brings innovative technology to Medical, Dental and Veterinary markets. We specialize in the design and manufacturing of premium medical devices. Our ingenuity can be found in our suture technologies, sports medicine fibers and anchors, surgical lighting, and special needle technologies.
As the Manufacturing Engineering Manager on the New Product Introduction (NPI) team at Riverpoint Medical, you will be at the forefront of bringing innovative medical, dental, and veterinary devices from concept to full‑scale production. Your primary mission will be to lead the successful transfer of new products and processes into manufacturing, ensuring robust, efficient, and compliant operations that support our growth and quality objectives.
Responsibilities- Mentor and develop a team of manufacturing engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and high performance.
- Lead and coordinate the transfer of new products and processes from development to manufacturing, ensuring all deliverables are met for a successful launch.
- Work closely with R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production teams to ensure design for manufacturability, scalability, and compliance with regulatory requirements throughout the NPI process.
- Champion process capability and review design for manufacturing, leveraging Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to optimize new and existing processes, ensure they are scalable and cost‑appropriate.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
- Provide hands‑on support during pilot builds and ramp‑up, troubleshooting issues and ensuring a smooth handoff to full‑scale manufacturing.
- Oversee the development, qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), and implementation of new manufacturing processes and equipment needed for new products, ensuring they meet safety, quality, and cost targets.
- Manage and optimize manufacturing costs by monitoring budgets, analyzing production data, and identifying cost‑saving opportunities.
- Ensure all technical documentation, protocols, and reports are complete and compliant with internal and external standards (e.g., FDA, GMED).
- Communicate project status, risks, and opportunities to leadership and cross‑functional teams, driving alignment and timely decision‑making.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial preferred).
- 7-10 years’ experience in process or manufacturing engineering, with a strong track record in NPI and process transfer within a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in process validation, Lean/Six Sigma, and project management.
- Experience leading cross‑functional teams through product launches and process scale‑up.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Experience in Medical Device (5+ years) or highly regulated environment.
- Experience with new product introduction (1‑3+ years) is highly desirable.
- Experience with statistical analysis of data (Ex. Minitab, JMP, etc.).
