Job Summary
The University of Portland located in Portland, Oregon, USA invites applications for a faculty position as an Instructor in the Simulated Health Center of the School of Nursing & Health Innovations. The School of Nursing & Health Innovations (SONHI) values a diversity of backgrounds and intellectual perspectives that create an environment of rich student mentoring within a community of scholars. The undergraduate and doctoral programs are built on the interconnectedness of individual social needs, clinical care, and community conditions. Successful candidates will have a high level of enthusiasm and engagement in innovative and inclusive pedagogy.
The SONHI is ideally suited for candidates with a focus on cultivating human learning capacity and who are dedicated to addressing social determinants of health. The SONHI implements state of the art simulation in ambulatory, acute, and telemedicine facilities.
Core Duties
University of Portland faculty teach, advise and serve the School and the University. Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to excellent teaching, including attention to evidence-based instructional practices.
All SONHI faculty teach across programs, as well as assist students in achievement of course objectives, guide student interaction in course-related work groups, grade coursework and provide feedback. SONHI faculty serve as academic advisors to SONHI students, working with assigned students to support their progress through the program of study.
Undergraduate baccalaureate generalist nurse faculty job responsibilities include teaching in a concept-based nursing curriculum across the lifespan and care continuum. Instructors typically teach 12 credit hours (or equivalent) per semester.
Faculty in the School of Nursing & Health Innovation's Simulated Health Center participate in multiple on-campus clinical settings and have a range of teaching duties unique to these settings that include, but are not limited to:
* Direct delivery of skills-focused content designed to facilitate the practice of psychomotor skills that support the student, curriculum, and School of Nursing & Health Innovations.
* Facilitate clinical simulation and debriefing sessions in an evidence-based manner that supports the simulation's objectives and the psychological safety of the participating students.

Education & Experience
* Required:
Master of science in nursing or health-related field
* Required:
A minimum of three years of full-time patient care experience at the registered nurse level
* Preferred:
Experience in nursing education or equivalent discipline
* Preferred:
Simulation lab experience
Certifications & Licenses
* Required:
Active unencumbered license as an Oregon R.N. or eligible for licensure in Oregon.

* Strong orientation towards continued learning and applying learning in the teaching and environment.
* Evidence of a commitment to undergraduate teaching and student mentoring.
