The Return of Title IV Aid & Appeals Review Coordinator performs highly complex professional work in returning student aid to the U.S. Department of Education after a student officially or unofficially withdraws from classes during a term. This includes coordinating and overseeing institutional compliance with all Department of Education requirements as they pertain to the Return of Title IV Aid process, including notifying students of awards, revisions, documentation requirements, institutional statistics, and institutional policies and procedures.
This position also attends the reviews and the response to Office of the Registrar Deadline Appeals Committee and Tuition & Fee Refund Committee petitions for impacted programmatic areas including R2T4, Satisfactory Academic Progress, grant funding, overawards, and over payments. The coordinator will participate in the appeal process and serve, as outlined by Internal Audit, as the Office of Financial Aid representative for appeal review and response.
They are also responsible for response to Title IX investigations for impacted programmatic areas.
The coordinator will serve as the primary resource for staff and student questions about responsible areas, train others assisting with R2T4 & Appeals review processes as appropriate, and delegate work to trained staff as necessary to ensure timely processing in accordance with regulatory deadlines.
This position reports to the Associate Director for Compliance.
In accordance with the AAUP collective bargaining agreement this position is open only to current PSU AAUP academic professionals. Article 17 Section 11 refers:
Minimum Qualifications- BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university with 2‑4 years of related experience.
- Advanced knowledge of Title IV regulations.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to develop and make presentations for PSU students, potential students, peers, and other interested publics.
- Ability to work with a diverse, non‑traditional student population.
- Effective time management, delegation, and team skills.
- Knowledge of Federal Student Aid regulatory deadlines.
- Ability to represent PSU in various settings such as orientations and other related outreach activities.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment that requires attention to detail and a high volume of student contact, file review, and funds awarded.
- Ability to work in a highly computerized environment.
- Experience using Banner Financial Aid Management System.
- Experience processing Federal Student Aid Return of Title IV Funds.
