The city is our campus, giving students unmatched access to career connections, a vibrant cultural scene and hands‑on learning experiences with hundreds of community partners.
More than 20,000 students from all backgrounds bring diverse perspectives to our classrooms and campus life, from the tree‑lined Park Blocks to the bustling Urban Plaza and state‑of‑the‑art science labs. The Native American Student & Community Center (NASCC) Assistant Director (AD) provides leadership to the NASCC and is responsible for the hiring, evaluation, and supervision of center staff. The AD manages the center’s daily operations, including public relations efforts and helping leadership with fundraising efforts and strategic initiatives. The Assistant Director ensures the NASCC remains a welcoming and inclusive space that celebrates and supports the success of Native American, Alaskan Native, and Pacific Islander students through culturally relevant programming, academic support, and intergenerational community engagement.
The Assistant Director is responsible for overseeing facility stewardship. This includes managing scheduling, marketing, booking, and billing processes for events, and developing efficient operational procedures. The AD collaborates closely with Institutional leaders including the Executive Director for Tribal Relations, the Indigenous Nations Studies and ITECK departments, Native campus leaders, Associate Vice Provost and Dean of Student Life and the Executive Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, to honor sovereignty and foster engagement with Native and Indigenous communities.
Additionally, the AD builds strong relationships with campus departments such as student services areas, student success units, and community organizations, positioning the NASCC as a premier venue for meetings, conferences, and gatherings.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Student Access, Success and Belonging, the AD plays a critical role in advancing the mission of the Office of Student Life and Student Affairs division. Working closely with the Assistant Director of Cultural Resource Centers, Assistant Director of Multicultural Retention Services, and Coordinator of Native American Student Services to ensure alignment and coordination of building operations, student fee funded co‑curricular programming and multicultural academic support.
