Overview

This is an ongoing recruitment to fill positions in June. Applicants are encouraged to apply early. Eligible applicants will be contacted for interviews as early as March.

Youth Conservation Crew (YCC) and Nature Day Camp (NDC) roles available on this application:

  • Youth Conservation Crew - Youth Crew Member (ages 14+)
  • Nature Day Camp - Teen Educator I (ages 16+)

Job Type
:
Casual, Part-time. These are part-time jobs where you can work up to 1,400 hours in a year. Employees in these positions serve se jobs are called Community Service Aide I by the City of Portland.

Youth Conservation Crew - Youth Crew Member (Ages 14+) - $18.00 per hour

Work in nature completing restoration projects in Portland Parks natural Areas, community gardens, and trails.

Daily Schedule
:
Tuesday – Friday, June 23 – August 7, 2026, 8:30am – 2:30pm. During the school year, you may sign up to work on Saturdays and school holidays.

Nature Day Camp - Teen Educator I (Ages 16+) - $18.00 per hour

Work with children ages 5–12 in local parks, leading games, activities, and exploring nature. Help with After Care.

Daily Schedule
:
June 15 through August 18, 2026;
Monday through Friday; 8:00am to 4:00pm, or 9:30am – 5:30pm if you help with After Care.

Qualifications

  • Applicants ages 14+ by June 23, 2026 will be considered for Youth Conservation Crew - Youth Crew Member.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in high school in the 2025–2026 school year to be considered for Youth Conservation Crew - Youth Crew Member.
  • Applicants ages 16+ by June 15, 2026 will be considered for Nature Day Camp - Teen Educator I.
  • Hold a current CPR/First Aid Certification by time of offer for Nature Day Camp - Teen Educator I.

Preferred Qualifications

Please note, these are not required, but will be helpful:

  • Speak one of the following languages:
    Spanish, Vietnamese, Somali, Chinese, or Russian.

Hiring Process

  • Apply online starting on February 16, 2026 – March 22, 2026.
  • We will review your application to determine if you meet the minimum needs for this role.
  • If you qualify, you will be placed on a list of eligible candidates.
  • We will contact eligible candidates for interviews as positions become available. Interviews will happen in April.
  • Job offers will be made after interviews, in April and May.
  • The start date will be approximately June 15, 2026 for Nature Day Camp, and June 23, 2026 for Youth Conservation Crew, once all hiring conditions are met.
