Portland Community College is accepting applications to be considered for Part‑Time Faculty assignments in Psychology. The Department will review applications in this pool as the need arises for new part‑time faculty in this area.

This is NOT an announcement of a specific open position, but a Part‑Time Faculty Interest Pool, from which the department will identify applicants based on course assignment needs during the Academic Year. Your application may be considered for substitute assignments as well as full term class assignments.

Our Program And Who We Are Looking For

Instructor Qualifications
  • Master’s degree, or higher, in Psychology (including all specialized degrees with Psychology in the title)
  • Master’s degree, or higher, in Counseling (including specialties in MFT, MFCC, CMF)
  • Master’s degree, or higher, in a Related Area and completion of 30 quarter‑hours of graduate credit in a Psychology or Counseling Department
Related Area Degrees (Examples)
  • Cognitive Science, Human Science, Neuroscience
  • Social or Human Ecology, Social Work, Human Development

The list of Related Areas may not be inclusive. The Program Dean, in consultation with the Faculty Department Chair (and/or screening committee), will recommend a Master’s degree outside the scope of these lists. The SAC may recommend a Master’s degree outside these qualifications for a special‑topic course.

Qualifications for PSY 236 (Psychology of Adult Development & Aging) Course
  • Meet general instructor qualifications for Psychology (above)
  • Master’s degree in Gerontology and at least 30 graduate credit hours in Psychology and/or Human Development

Note Regarding Academic Credentials
  • Official transcripts required to be submitted within 2 weeks of offer date for degrees required in the stated Instructor Qualifications.
  • Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials at a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution having equivalent regional accreditation. Instructors with credentials from other countries will have their transcripts evaluated by agencies that have good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services to establish fulfillment of this standard.
