Sub Early Childhood Teacher Aides: $24.00/hour and/or Sub Early Childhood Teachers: $26.00/hour. Effective Date:
September – June.
We are interviewing now & hiring for this fall. Our school, the International School of Portland, seeks dynamic substitute language immersion educators for our early childhood program. The language immersion substitute teacher or aide will use the target language (Spanish, Chinese or Japanese) throughout the day while engaging with students.
Working Conditions /Physical Requirements
- Capable of quickly traveling to multiple locations on school campus including up and down hills, lifting or otherwise carrying 40 pounds, traveling up/down flights of stairs, standing and sitting for long durations, typing for continuous hours on a computer keyboard, and reading information on a computer screen.
- There may be flexibility for an EC substitute to cover elementary grade levels, specifically from First through Fifth grade.
- Native level fluency in one of the three languages (Spanish, Chinese, or Japanese)
- At least 1 year of experience working with preschool aged children
- A Bachelor's degree in Education or Early Childhood/Elementary Education is preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of Inquiry Based-Primary Years Program pedagogy is a plus but not necessary
- Experience teaching or working in an immersion program
- Experience working in a multi‑cultural environment
- Experience using technology in the classroom
- Candidates offered a position must be able to pass a background check
- Candidates offered a position must provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
- No visa sponsor ships available
- Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Teaching/Education or equivalent experience
- Basic understanding of spoken and written English
- Demonstrated proficiency in the target language along with demonstrated ability to teach the target language
- At least 6 months – 1 year of professional teaching experience in a language immersion classroom or similar
- Already have or be able to obtain specific certifications and trainings
- Current resume and cover letter.
