PCC is accepting applications to be considered for Part-Time Faculty assignments in ASL / English Interpreting. The department will review applications in this pool as needs arise for new part-time faculty in this area. This is NOT an announcement of a specific open position, but a Part-time Faculty Interest Pool, from which the department will identify applicants based on course assignment needs during the Academic Year.
Your application may be considered for substitute assignments as well as full-term class assignments.

Please review the PCC Course Catalog for this subject area (Subject Search for ITP Courses). As part of this application, you will be asked to list the current PCC courses you would be able to teach. Instructor Qualifications- Master’s Degree in Interpreting, Interpreter Education, Intercultural Relations, Deaf Education, Linguistics, or related field
- Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (acceptable: CSC, CI/CT or NIC) OR certification from the ASLTA
- Current membership in the Conference of Interpreter Trainers (CIT)
- Three (3) years of experience teaching interpreting or American Sign Language in credit courses at the college level
- Native or near native ASL proficiency to be assessed through a proficiency interview
- Experience coordinating an academic program, including working with part-time faculty and developing curriculum
Full-time Instructors will teach many of the different courses listed below and have significant, if not primary, responsibility for the curriculum, program equipment and facilities, connection to the Deaf community, the Advisory Board and other employers, as well as regular college departmental operations.
Qualification For Faculty With Specialized Teaching AssignmentsPracticum courses such as ITP 180, 279, 281, 283, 284 and 285 require:
- AAS or BA in Sign Language Interpretation, Interpreter Education, Intercultural Relations, Deaf Education, Linguistics or related field
- RID Certification
- 3 years professional interpreting experience
- Background in mentoring new interpreters
- AAS or BA in Sign Language Interpretation, Interpreter Education, Intercultural Relations, Deaf Education, Linguistics or related field
- RID Certification or ASLTA Certification
- Three (3) years professional interpreting experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching for-credit ASL classes OR recent experience directly related to the content of the course to be taught (e.g. interpreting in K-12 education for ITP 267 and 275)
Instructors who meet the above requirements also need to meet the following qualifications for courses with embedded related instruction:
