Rockwood Preparatory Academy is a K-5 Charter School serving a diverse student population in the Reynolds School District, located in the Rockwood community of Portland. At RPA our mission is to provide excellence and justice in education by ensuring that ALL students, K-5, can demonstrate rock-solid reading, arithmetic, writing, and spelling skills.
We provide a model public elementary school that dispels the myth that racial background and economic status are determinant factors in a child’s ability to reach high levels of academic achievement through the use of a rigorous, proven, Direct Instruction curriculum delivered by effective, nurturing teachers.

Classroom Teacher Responsibilities- Curriculum:
Implementing the approved curriculum. Math, English Language Arts, and Spelling use a Direct Instruction curriculum to support rapid learning and academic achievement of students. - Cooperation:
Working closely with other teachers, staff, and administrators to develop and refine teaching skills. - Collaboration:
Participating in productive discussions focused on sharing curriculum and instructional expertise including team planning meetings, professional development, and. - Professional Development:
Engaging in offered opportunities and exploring topics of professional interest. - Professional Etiquette:
Acting in a professional manner at all times, both in verbal and written communications while following established guidelines. - Communication:
Promoting communication between parents, community members and teammates, and working to establish and maintain the home-school relationship. - Relationships:
Foster positive and productive with students, staff, families, and the community. - Pedagogical Knowledge:
Understands and applies expertise related to assessment, instruction, community building, student motivation, and appreciation for the cultural and individual differences that exist within the learning community.
- High energy and strong organizational skills
- Passion for teaching children
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher
- Oregon Teaching License required
- Proof of Employment Eligibility & successful completion of Criminal Background Check
- Experience using computers for teaching, word processing & data entry

Salary Range:
Teaching License (BA/BS): $46,756-$68,901+;
Teaching License (MEd/MA/MS): $51,799-$77,357+

Schedule:
7:30AM-4:00PM
* Required Staff professional development 3:30-4:30 1 day a week
Yearly Calendar: 164 student contact days; 2 weeks of training & prep before school begins;
Monthly Staff Work days!
