The Transfer Evaluator is a key position within the Registrar’s Office and will support student success outcomes through accurate and consistent evaluation of academic transcripts and transfer credits for prospective, admitted, and continuing students. This position ensures that prior learning achievements are appropriately recognized and that students receive timely, reliable information to support degree progress. This position requires a strong understanding of undergraduate curriculum, particularly during the first two years of undergraduate study, and involves close collaboration with Transfer Admissions, Academic Advisors, and the Core Curriculum Director.

This position reports directly to the Registrar.

Overview

The Transfer Evaluator will contribute to student success by evaluating transfer credits in accordance with University policies and by communicating clearly about transferable credits, degree requirements, and time to graduation. The role includes maintaining expertise in the Core Curriculum and undergraduate majors/minors with emphasis on first- and second-year students, and collaborating with academic units to support transfer pathways.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate transfer credits for prospective students using University policies and processes to ensure program requirements and student success outcomes are met.
  • Provide communications to prospective students with clear, timely information on transferable credits, degree requirements, and time to graduation.
  • Collaborate with the Core Curriculum Director to determine core equivalencies and block transfer eligibility.
  • Maintain expertise in the University’s Core Curriculum and undergraduate majors/minors with emphasis on first- and second-year students.
  • Perform specialized evaluation of transfer credits for student-athletes, in partnership with the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Academics and Student-Athlete Development to ensure compliance with NCAA eligibility requirements and alignment with University academic policies.
  • Coordinate non-core course substitution processes with academic units for specialized or upper-division coursework.
  • Serve as liaison for students and the Study Abroad Office to evaluate credits from third party study abroad programs.
  • Provide training to Admissions Counselors and Academic Advisors to facilitate communications and processes related to transfer students as it pertains to academic schools and program requirements.
  • Develop and implement transfer pathways for core curriculum and key majors in partnership with Academic Advisors, Admissions, and Core Curriculum Director.
  • Establish and maintain regional and national higher education contacts and resources to stay abreast of changes related to the transfer process.
  • Ensure student records reflect final transfer equivalency decisions.
  • Serve on University Committees as assigned to support transfer student experiences and student success outcomes.
  • Ensure confidentiality of student data and perform all work with confidential and sensitive student information under observance of FERPA and other applicable guidelines and policies.
  • Remain up-to-date on curricular changes within the University bulletin.
Qualifications
  • Education & Experience
    • Required:

      Four to five years’ experience with curriculum evaluation, academic advising and/or credit administration within a higher education setting.
    • Preferred:
      Experience in Higher Education and experience with Degree Works and/or Banner.
    • Or a combination of equivalent education and/or experience.

    • Knowledge of academic record administration and compliance.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to learn and apply policies in a Registrar’s Office and University using problem solving skills.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform decision making actions related to curricular policy guidelines.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and effectively handle highly-sensitive and personal information with sound judgment, tact, and discretion and in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.
