Program and Ideal CandidateThe Business Administration (BA) Program at Portland Community College invites dynamic candidates to apply for a full-time instructor position specializing in Business Technology. The BA program serves more than 5,000 students annually and offers courses through flexible delivery options including online (asynchronous), live online (via Zoom), on-site at multiple PCC campuses, and hybrid formats.
We seek a candidate who will join a collaborative team of 15 full-time and 50+ part-time faculty members and serve as a lead instructor for business technology courses within the BA program. Teaching responsibilities include BA106, BA116, BA169Z, and future newly developed courses. The role emphasizes curriculum innovation, digital fluency, and culturally responsive teaching practices. The successful candidate will collaborate across programs and departments to elevate the BA program’s reach and impact.
This position is based at the Sylvania campus with teaching at other campuses/sites as needed. Faculty are expected to be on-site at least two days per week during each academic term.
Responsibilities- Lead instruction for BA106, BA116, BA169Z and future BA technology courses.
- Drive curriculum innovation and strengthen digital fluency and business technology offerings.
- Collaborate across programs and departments to advance curriculum and mentor fellow faculty.
- Engage with colleagues and stakeholders to expand the program’s reach and impact.
- Master’s Degree in a business field (e.g., Business or Business Education, MS in Business Technology or Business Analytics); OR
- Master’s Degree in any field plus five years of relevant teaching and industry experience; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in any field plus five years of relevant teaching and industry experience.
- Community college or higher education teaching experience
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Tableau; experience teaching data analytics tools and AI-enabled business solutions
- Professional experience with data analytics in business or academic settings

Success Criteria- Ability and enthusiasm to teach BA106, BA116, BA169Z and develop emerging business-technology curricula using student-centered active learning.
- Technical competence with essential business software and emerging technologies; ability to teach these to a diverse student body.
- Proficiency in multi-modal learning environments and accessible course design, including online asynchronous, online synchronous, in-person, and blended modalities.
- Experience adapting teaching strategies for diverse learners, incorporating culturally responsive teaching principles.
- Experience partnering with colleagues and community stakeholders using intercultural communication and advocacy skills.
- Ability to balance priorities and manage remote and in-person work across multiple projects.
- Demonstrated agility and commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
