Overview

Join our Team at Portland Community College. Portland Community College is the largest post-secondary institution in Oregon and 19th largest in the nation, serving approximately 80,000 full- and part-time students. PCC has four comprehensive campuses, five workforce training and education centers, and 200 community locations in the Portland metropolitan area. Portland Community College is accepting applications to be considered for Part-Time Faculty assignments in Chicano / Latino Studies. This is not an announcement of a specific open position but a Part-time Faculty Interest Pool. The Department will review applications as needs arise for new part-time faculty in this area. Your application may be considered for substitute assignments as well as full-term class assignments.

Instructor Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Chicano/Latino/Hispanic Studies, Ethnic Studies, Cultural Studies, American Studies, or Latin American Studies; OR
  • Master’s degree in any field AND 30 quarter hours of graduate credit in Chicano/Latino/Hispanic Studies, Ethnic Studies, Cultural Studies, American Studies, or Latin American Studies; OR
  • Master’s degree in any field AND 9-15 quarter hours of graduate credit in Chicano/Latino/Hispanic Studies, Ethnic Studies, Cultural Studies, American Studies, or Latin American Studies PLUS experience as lead instructor for at least 4 introductory college-level CHLA courses; OR
  • Master’s degree in any field AND 16-29 quarter hours of graduate credit in Chicano/Latino/Hispanic Studies, Ethnic Studies, Cultural Studies, American Studies, or Latin American Studies PLUS experience as lead instructor for at least 2 introductory college-level CHLA courses.
  • The list may not be inclusive; other degree titles may be appropriate. The Division Dean, in consultation with the Faculty Department chair, will determine applicability of a degree to teaching a specific CHLA course.

  • Official transcripts are required to be submitted within 2 weeks of offer date for degrees required in the stated Instructor Qualifications.
  • Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials at a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution with equivalent regional accreditation. Transcripts from other countries will be evaluated by agencies that are members of NACES.
