Statistics Co-Pilot; Tutor

Overview

Statistics Co-Pilots provide statistics tutoring services in the Math Resource Center (MRC) located within the Learning Commons. Stats Co-Pilots provide drop-in and appointment-based tutoring services for mathematics students. Stats Co-Pilots work between 2 and 4 hours a week, based on tutoring experience, course background, and scheduling needs for the MRC. Stats Co-Pilots participate in pedagogical and content training. Pay rate is the Portland Metro minimum wage.

• Maintain a professional, welcoming environment in the MRC and Learning Commons
• Support active student learning in mathematics, including homework, study skills, test and quiz review
• Attend all required training sessions, including an initial training during the Spring and Summer prior to the start of Fall semester
• Maintain a clean and organized space in the MRC
• Maintain appointment calendar for appointment-based tutoring
• Option to deliver appointment-based tutoring in both in-person and virtual settings
• Other relevant duties as assigned

• Successful completion of Introductory Statistics (MTH 161) with B or better
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
• Faculty endorsement for math courses the Co-Pilot intends to tutor
• Availability to work a minimum of 2 hours per week
• Availability for all required trainings (2-10 hours per semester)

• Successful completion of Introductory Statistics (MTH 161) with A- or better
• Additional course work in quantitative or math related courses
• Demonstrated excellence in academic peer assistance within or outside of the classroom or experience teaching or one-on-one tutoring
• Cumulative Math GPA of 3.5 or above

• Ability to meet in-person for mathematics tutoring
