Part Time Faculty Interest Pool - Sociology

Part-time faculty assignments in Sociology at Portland Community College. The department will review applications in this pool as the need arises for new part-time faculty in this area. This is not a specific open position but a partnership pool from which the department may identify applicants based on course assignment needs during the Academic Year. Applications may be considered for substitute assignments and full term class assignments.

Program and Prospective Applicants

Please review the PCC Course Catalog for Sociology courses and list the current PCC courses you are able to teach. Adequate to consider for part‑time faculty roles.

Instructor Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Sociology or a sub‑discipline (Demography, Urban Studies, Criminology, Gerontology, Peace Studies, Women's Studies).
  • At least 32 hours of graduate‑level coursework in Sociology (no more than half in research methods).
  • Official transcripts must be submitted within two weeks of offer date for required degrees.
  • Credentials must be from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or an equivalent foreign institution evaluated by an agency with standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.

Note:

Social Work and other social science disciplines such as Anthropology, Psychology, or Political Science are not considered sub‑disciplines of Sociology.
