Position

Description:

The Director of Educational Technology is a creative and dynamic leader charged with developing and implementing a strategic vision in all areas of technology for the school. This person facilitates the integration of digital tools and best practices into curriculum and administrative systems and engages with administrators, educators, support personnel, parents, and students to extend responsible and creative use of technology.

• Develop and implement a strategic vision for the use of technology in the school in both the academic and infrastructural systems.
• Maintain knowledge of and communicate current research findings and forecasts related to the effective use of technology in the school’s educational program.
• Model and support the effective integration of technology in the classroom.
• Provide current, cutting‑edge information to support decision‑making on academic and administrative technology matters.
• Serve as the administrator for the school’s 1-to-1 iPad program.
• Champion changes in curriculum design and delivery in conjunction with administrators.
• In collaboration with the Principal, oversee professional development of staff on the integration of technology into the curriculum and also provide direct professional development.
• Ensure that all educators have access to the appropriate tools for 21st century learning.
• Focus on ensuring that network and other technology resources are used safely and responsibly rather than limiting access.
• Challenge the status quo in order to implement new technology applications, best practices and supports.
• Serve as a liaison and be an active member of the Technology Committee with the Board.

• Oversee all administrative aspects of technology programs and services in the school, including infrastructure implementation and maintenance, support of educators and support staff in the use of hardware.
• Isolate, research, and resolve complex problems or issues for critical school applications including, but not limited to:
  Power School; SIS/LMS;
  Hyper‑V;
  Securly systems; JAMF MDM;
  Google Classroom;
  Raiser’s Edge NXT;
  Google and Microsoft Cloud, etc.

• Effectively allocate and manage resources to support strategic priorities and initiatives.
• Provide leadership in the purchase and acquisition of new technology and equipment. Consult with appropriate stakeholders to coordinate, evaluate, and recommend new technology and equipment.
• Possess the understanding of industry‑standard related practices and procedures of regulations and guidelines as they relate to the purchase and use of software, specifically copyright laws and the use of licensed equipment and materials.
• Develop and monitor annual instructional technology and technology operations budget in cooperation with appropriate stakeholders.

• Professionally represent the school in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students and resolve conflict in a professional manner.
• Comply with applicable state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations.
• Respond willingly to emergency situations outside of the standard work schedule.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the President.

• Advanced Degree in Educational Technology or a related field preferred.
• At least three years of classroom teaching experience.
• Experience working with iPads and other mobile devices in education.
• Experience with a range of hardware; software including, but not limited to, Power School, Raiser’s Edge NXT, etc., and Windows, Mac, and iOS operating systems.
