Do you like working outdoors with kids? The Education Team holds the precious task of helping people of all ages, but especially kids, learn about the land, its plants, animals, life cycles, stories, and about each other.
The Education Team tends many different educational opportunities at TLC Farm. We plan and lead educational field trips for people of all ages, create educational signs for the land, tend an education-focused garden plot and are hosting the Becoming People of Place book club. We've also started educating ourselves about local handcrafts and natural dyes. We have a lot of fun!
Tryon Life Community Farm is committed to fostering community among the humans and other-than-humans who share this land. The farm is open to the public six days a week (Tuesday through Sunday) and hosts educational field trips, workshops, skill shares, musical performances, private events, and more.
Volunteer time commitments are flexible. Most lead educational tours at TLC Farm once or twice a month, 2 hour per tour, daylight hours. Others help with tasks such as creating educational signs as fits their schedules
Volunteers receive training how to connect learners of all ages to the land. They learn about history of the land and its peoples, native and invasive plants (including edible plants), gardening techniques, ecological webs, all while learning fun songs, games, and activities.
