Assistant Professor – Child and Adolescent Consultation Liaison/Outpatient Psychiatrist

Location: Portland, Oregon – Department of Psychiatry, OHSU

The Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at OHSU is seeking a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist for a full-time faculty position. This 1.0 FTE appointment is Assistant to Associate Professor with responsibilities split evenly between the Consultation‑Liaison (CL) Service and the outpatient child psychiatry clinic. The faculty member will devote 80% of their time to direct patient care (in both inpatient consultation and outpatient settings) and 20% to supervision, teaching, and other academic responsibilities.

In this role you will provide compassionate, evidence‑based psychiatric care to children and adolescents, collaborate within an interdisciplinary team, and contribute to OHSU’s missions of clinical excellence, education, and scholarly inquiry. Research and other scholarly activities are encouraged but not required. Protected time is provided for academic pursuits.

• Education & Training: M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school; completion of an accredited residency in General Psychiatry and an accredited fellowship in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
• Board Certification/Eligibility: Board certified or board eligible in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (must be certified within a specified time frame if not already), board certified in General Psychiatry; licensed in Oregon; compliance with all credentialing requirements.
• Clinical Expertise: Demonstrated excellence in caring for children, adolescents, and families; competence in a broad range of disorders and treatments; experience in Consultation‑Liaison Psychiatry (especially pediatric) highly valued; commitment to trauma‑informed and developmentally appropriate care.
• Teaching & Supervision: Passion for teaching and mentoring; prior experience teaching or supervising medical students, residents, or fellows desirable; ability to foster a positive learning environment.
• Collaboration & Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary team; strong commitment to team‑based care and collegiality.
• Scholarly Interests: While not required, interest in clinical research, scholarly writing, or program development is a plus; support provided for academic time.
• Licensure/Certification: Valid medical license (or eligibility) in Oregon; DEA certification; ongoing maintenance of board certification and licensure through CME and professional development.

This position is within OHSU’s School of Medicine and is part of the Division of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. Faculty members are integrated into a collaborative team that includes child psychiatrists, psychologists, nurse practitioners, social workers, and trainees. Protected time is available to pursue academic interests; the department encourages scholarly engagement and supports efforts to develop academic projects or research aligned with faculty interests.
