The Knight Cardiovascular Institute (KCVI) is recognized as a top integrated center for cardiovascular clinical care, translational research and professional training in all aspects of heart and vascular disease. Guided by a multi-disciplinary approach, researchers and clinicians drive a vibrant translational research program, which focuses on delivering the latest knowledge and cutting-edge care to patients. Specifically, research at KCVI seeks to improve patient outcomes by achieving earlier diagnosis of disease, more accurate monitoring of its progression, and tailoring therapy to the molecular basis of disease.
- This position will spend the majority of the time working as a clinical cardiologist in the Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant team.
- Outpatient clinic, inpatient care of pre- and post-transplant patients, as well as right heart catheterizations and cardiac biopsies.
- Clinical: 8-10 weeks of inpatient rounding on the advanced HF/transplant service; ~3.5 days of work to include heart failure clinic, LVAD clinic, transplant clinic, and cardiac catheterization (if desired); ~1.5 days for transplant administration, research, education, professional development time, etc.
- Education: Spend a portion of time on education-related activities. Support the heart failure fellowship at OHSU and involve trainees in the heart failure program.
- Research: Opportunities to explore research in heart failure. Administrative support is available for grant submission, financial management and clinical trials support. Share research interests during the interview process.
- Required Qualifications:
- Licensed MD with active Oregon license upon hire
- Board Certified or board eligible in cardiovascular diseases and heart failure
- DEA certification, current BLS and ACLS certification
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working in academic health center
