Department Overview

The Hemophilia Center, within the Institute of Development and Disability, in conjunction with the Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology (PHO), both within the Department of Pediatrics (DOP) and School of Medicine (SOM) at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), are seeking a pediatric hematologist with interest in clinical or educational scholarship at the assistant/associate professor level. Individuals with basic science research interests may also apply.

The successful candidate will have clinical, scholarship, teaching, and administrative responsibilities within the Hemophilia Center as well as similar responsibilities within the Division of PHO.

Function/Duties of Position
  • Clinical:
    • Provide expert and compassionate clinical care to the pediatric bleeding and clotting disorders patient population as well as to the general pediatric hematology population in the outpatient and inpatient setting at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and associated outreach clinical sites.
    • Clinical practice will be collaboration with faculty and staff of the Hemophilia Center and the Division of PHO.
  • Scholarship:
    • For the candidate pursuing a clinical research career path, conduct clinical research and/or educational research/curriculum development at OHSU.
    • For the candidate pursuing a basic or translational physician scientist career, conduct lab-based and/or translational research at OHSU.
    • Fund these opportunities as necessary through grants and contracts.
    • The expectation will be for the physician scientist to seek further grant funding through NIH mechanisms and other relevant sources.
  • Teaching:
    • Participate in the education of students, trainees, colleagues, and staff in conjunction with clinical and research efforts.
  • Administrative:
    • Assume responsibilities as assigned by the Director of the Hemophilia Center as well as the Division Head of PHO.
    • Serve on committees and councils of OHSU.
    • Serve in professional societies with the knowledge of the Division Head of PHO and Director of the Hemophilia Center.
Required Qualifications
  • An MD or DO degree or the foreign equivalent;
  • Oregon medical licensure or eligibility for licensure;
  • Board certification in Pediatrics;
  • Board certification or eligibility for board certification in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology
Preferred Qualifications

For applicants on the physician scientist track, candidates are preferred to have:

  • A submitted or awarded NIH K level grant application or equivalent and an OHSU scholarship mentor
