Function/Duties of PositionThe Department of Pediatrics at OHSU School of Medicine invites applications and nominations for the position of Head of the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology & Sleep Medicine. The position is for a full-time Pediatric Pulmonologist who is currently at Associate Professor or Professor level. The ideal candidate will have leadership experience and a strong desire to advance the Division in clinical care, scholarship and education.
The Head of the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology is the chief academic and administrative officer of the Division, with substantial opportunities ahead.
Under the direction of the Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics, the Division Head will create a unifying vision that moves the Division forward in all mission areas. The Division of Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine includes a clinical program with a team of 6 pulmonologists, 3 sleep physicians, and 2 Advanced Practice Providers. It operates the major accredited Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Center in Oregon/Southwest Washington (240 patients) with active CF Therapeutics Development Network and CF Learning Network participation.
The division provides PFT laboratories, a Sleep Section/Center, bronchoscopy services, an Aerodigestive Center, and a developing BPD Center. The candidate should also emphasize scholarship within the division.
Doernbecher Children s Hospital at OHSU is the teaching hospital for pediatrics in Oregon with a full complement of subspecialists and fellowship programs.
The duties beyond leadership of the division include:
- Clinical:
Provides excellent clinical care in outpatient and inpatient settings and may include outpatient outreach locations. - Education:
Teaches residents, medical students and all trainees and support staff. - Scholarship:
Encourages scholarly research that improves clinical practice, understanding, detection and treatment of diseases, or enhances the education foundation in pediatric pulmonology. - Other duties:
Administrative and advocacy duties may be assigned within the hospital or academic department.
- Licensed MD and eligible for license in Oregon and Washington.
- Board certification or eligibility in Pediatrics Pulmonology.
- Completion of an accredited Pediatric Residency and Pediatric Pulmonology fellowship.
- Demonstrated competence in research, clinical care and teaching.
