8+ Years Experience | Licensed Architect | Portland, Oregon

Risa Boyer Architecture (RBA) is a boutique, full-service architecture firm in Portland specializing in modern, high-performance residential design. We are seeking an experienced Project Architect to lead projects from schematic design through construction.

Role Overview

At RBA the Project Architect is responsible for designing and managing residential projects through all phases, ensuring design integrity, technical excellence, and coordination with clients, consultants, and contractors. This role requires strong leadership, documentation expertise, and construction-phase experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead architectural projects from schematic design through construction completion
  • Produce and coordinate high-quality construction documents in Revit
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and contractors
  • Coordinate consultant teams and manage project schedules
  • Lead client presentations and communicate design intent clearly
  • Perform zoning, code analysis, and manage permitting processes
  • Provide construction administration, including site visits, submittals, RFIs, and field issue resolution
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies between drawings and field conditions
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative studio culture
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of progressive experience, including project leadership
  • Advanced knowledge of residential construction, detailing, and building systems
  • High proficiency in Revit and BIM workflows
  • Strong understanding of Oregon building codes and permitting
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
Preferred Experience
  • High-performance residential design (Passive House or similar)
  • Familiarity with rendering tools such as Lumion
