OverviewMWA Architects seeks a BIM Manager for our Portland office. The ideal candidate is responsible, organized, and enthusiastic about infrastructure, transportation, resource management, and housing project work. You will work independently, be detail‑oriented, an active listener, and collaborate with design and technical staff to support an award‑winning architecture firm.
Responsibilities- Assisting multiple project teams during development of design and construction documentation.
- Working with BIM modeling software, maintaining and implementing modeling standards, and aligning with industry partners’ standards.
- Involved in future planning for BIM uses, including sustainable design modeling, 3D rendering standards, facilities management, cost estimating, integrated project delivery, digital prototyping, and digital fabrication.
- Providing significant training: testing new hires, technical orientation, Revit training, and maintaining personal competency of software.
- Attending conferences, seminars, and workshops for BIM; sharing new tools and methods with teams.
- Developing and enforcing BIM standards and creating a BIM Execution Plan template.
- Supporting project standard coordination with consultants and troubleshooting BIM software problems.
- Creating Revit families, maintaining BIM software template files, and performing quality control of models.
- Running clash detection software at each deliverable period and supporting filing and digital certifications.
- Managing software products, including version releases and customization.
- Evaluating new BIM‑related software, plug‑ins, and technologies; managing cloud‑based modeling platforms such as BIM Collaborate Pro and Project Wise.
- Leading the company’s BIM core user group and reporting on BIM implementation status.
- Coordinating hardware upgrades with the IT team.
- Occasionally traveling overnight between Portland, OR and San Francisco, CA.
- Bachelor’s degree or trade school certification in Architecture or equivalent technical training; prior experience in the building industry.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in design, drafting, BIM management.
- In‑depth working knowledge of Autodesk software, including Cloud Modeling.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals.
- Self‑starter with the drive to pursue continued BIM education.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
- Expertise in all aspects of the design and drafting process throughout all stages of the design process.
- Micro Station, Rhino, Sketch Up, and Maker Bot.
- SharePoint site setup.
- Rendering software:
Lumion, Enscape, V‑Ray, etc. - Image editing software.

- Hybrid work schedule: 3 days per week in the office.
- Base pay range: $92,000 – $102,000, depending on skills, qualifications, and years of experience.
