We are seeking a digitally focused Morning Meteorologist
who will lead weather coverage in the morning and play a significant on-air role in our ARC (Authentic, Relevant, Community) program on KUNP
, our independent channel. This position blends forecasting, storytelling, and anchoring within a community-focused morning environment. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can connect weather to real-life impact, contribute meaningfully to ARC programming, and engage audiences across broadcast and digital platforms.

Ideal Candidate
  • Deliver accurate, engaging weather forecasts during morning newscasts.
  • Serve as a regular on-air anchor and contributor for ARC on KUNP
    , supporting a conversational, community-driven morning show.
  • Provide occasional anchoring or on-air support on KATU morning newscasts as needed.
  • Develop and present weather-impact and community-focused stories
    that align with ARC’s mission.
  • Lead digital-first weather coverage
    , including frequent updates for web, app, and social platforms.
  • Produce enterprise weather content that explains trends, impacts, and developing conditions beyond the daily forecast.
  • Create short-form videos, graphics, and written content optimized for mobile and social audiences.
  • Provide calm, authoritative coverage during breaking and severe weather, including live cut-ins.
  • Collaborate closely with producers, reporters, and digital teams across KATU and KUNP.
  • Represent the station professionally on-air, online, and at community events.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years on-air experience, 3 as a meteorologist is preferred.
  • Strong forecasting skills with a clear, relatable on-air presentation.
  • Experience or strong interest in anchoring and conversational hosting
    , particularly in a community-focused format.
  • Demonstrated passion for digital storytelling and audience engagement
    .
  • Ability to communicate weather in an authentic, relevant, and community-centered
    way.
  • Comfortable working early morning hours and in fast-paced, breaking news situations.
