Position Summary:

The Analyst, Pricing and Margin plays a critical role in protecting and expanding margin across a complex, high-volume broadline food distribution business. This role focuses on pricing execution, cost volatility management, and margin visibility across thousands of SKU's spanning center-of-plate (COP), dry grocery, frozen, dairy, product and non-food categories. The Analyst partners closely with Sales, Procurement, Finance and Operations to ensure pricing decisions reflect vendor costs, freight and fuel impacts, rebate programs, and service-level economics - while remaining competitive in a highly price-sensitive market.

This is a highly analytical and technical position that requires the ability to manipulate and derive insights from large volumes of data from multiple systems. The Data Analyst will develop and track key performance indicators that will be critical to enhancing the understanding of the business and increasing business profitability. This individual will be assisting in analysis and the development of materials that will support pricing and margin management, contract negotiations, and pricing strategy initiatives across the organization.

This role will involve interdepartmental work and a broad understanding of the company.

Position Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Finance, Procurement and Operations to lead the development, tracking and reporting of key performance and compliance metrics to aid in improving customer margin.
  • Analyze and maintain customer-specific and tiered pricing across a broad SKU portfolio.
  • Conduct route-level and customer-lev
  • Support rapid price updates driven by vendor cost changes, commodity fluctuations and freight/fuel surcharges.
  • Ensure pricing execution aligns with margin targets, category strategy and competitive benchmarks.
  • Assist with pricing for brand expansion, new item introductions and substitutions.
  • Administrator for Local Earned Income (LEI) using Vistex.
  • Track, reconcile and validate vendor rebates, bill-backs and incentive programs.
  • Partner with Procurement and Finance to ensure rebate assumptions are accurately reflecting in pricing and margin reporting.
  • Analyze vendor program ROI and recommend improvements to maximize profitability.
  • Monitor gross margin performance by customer, category, SKU and sales channel.
  • Identify margin leakage caused by cost lag, discounting, spoilage, freight and service intensity.
  • Conduct route-level and customer-level profitability analysis in a delivery-driven cost structure.
  • Support margin recovery initiatives and continuous pricing improvement efforts.
  • Provide pricing guidance and deal analysis for contract bids, large accounts and renewals.
  • Support Sales with customer profitability insights and pricing recommendations.
  • Help drive pricing discipline and consistency across the Sales organization.
  • Define and maintain data management standards to ensure the delivery of consistent, accurate business analysis and metrics for key department activities, including (but not limited to):
    • Profit/Loss
    • Pricing Accuracy
    • Rebate and Incentive Tracking
    • Line-Item Cross-reference Information
    • Compliance reporting
Additional Tasks
  • Prepare standard and ad hoc analysis and reporting for both internal and external customers using the Company's internal databases.
  • Create, design, maintain and update reports, dashboards and other content, and accompanying documentation.
  • Deliver clear, actionable insights to Finance, Sales, Procurement and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Learn new data structures and help design reporting tables
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1 - 2 Years
  • 2-4 years of business experience in an analytical role supporting multiple business partners
  • Demonstrated experience in data driven analysis including manipulating large datasets
