About this RoleOregon Aerial Construction (OAC) is looking for a Permit Assistant - Permit Determination for our Portland, OR location.
The Permit Assistant supports the project team by identifying what permits are required for work being done on utility poles along roadways in both commercial and residential aeras. Most of the work involves looking at pole locations on maps, determining what type of traffic control permit or pole permit is required, and organizing the information so the permitting team can submit it accurately.
This is a computer-based position and requires someone who is organized, self-motivated, and comfortable researching information online.

What You'll Do- Look up pole locations using Google Maps and Google Earth
- Determine what type of traffic control permit is needed
- Identify when permits are required through ODOT, cities, or counties
- Identify when a new attachment permit is needed from pole owners
- Review documents and maps using Adobe PDF Reader
- Track information and organize data in Excel spreadsheets
- Create basic documentation in Microsoft Word
- Navigate internal programs such as P2 and Sphere
- Research answers when something is unclear
- Ask questions when you reach a point where you need guidance
- Help keep work organized and moving forward
- Other tasks that are assigned
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to use Google Maps and Google Earth
- Comfortable reviewing documents in PDF format
- Good organization and attention to detail
- Ability to research problems and think through solutions
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Able to handle deadlines and occasional setbacks
The position is an office position with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. The schedule will be Monday through Friday, start and end times may vary.
