Position Summary

Portland State University is Oregon’s premier access university offering both undergraduate and graduate degrees. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is responsible for the recruitment and admission of undergraduate students. The Undergraduate Admissions Operations division oversees the collection of applications, application materials, and admission review for all undergraduate and post-baccalaureate applicants to Portland State University.

The person in this position will coordinate and process undergraduate and post-baccalaureate applications which includes determining admissibility of the student, evaluating transfer credits and data entry of admission information in multiple PSU systems (Banner, OnBase, Uacheive, SLATE) with a high degree of accuracy and speed.

Minimum Qualifications from Classification

Two years of general clerical experience. One year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents;

OR An Associate’s degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology;

OR Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology AND one year of general clerical experience.

Note: College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Additional Minimum Qualifications for this Position

  • The person in this position must be able to do math computations using fractions; convert from semester to quarter systems; correlate another institution’s transcripts to the PSU system; and be able to work with a variety of school systems.
  • Able to type 55 wpm.
  • Ability to use calculator with accuracy.
  • Type information on a computer systems for long hours on a daily basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency using Ellucian Banner or an equivalent SIS System
  • Proficiency using SLATE or a similar CRM
  • Experience in Admissions
  • Experience at Portland State University
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience

Work Days/Hours

Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm

Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement

The starting hourly rate for this position will be between $19.36 and $21.91. The starting salary may be negotiable above this range, however it will be dependent upon the knowledge, experience, skills, and abilities of the chosen candidate, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR. PSU’s excellent benefits package includes 95% premium paid healthcare; a generous retirement and vacation package;

and reduces tuition rates for employee, spouse or dependent at any of the Oregon Public Universities.
