We are looking for a skilled Part-Time Bookkeeper to join our team in Portland, Oregon. This long-term contract position offers an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented individual to contribute to the financial and administrative operations of the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bookkeeping and accounting, coupled with a passion for providing excellent customer service and supporting organizational processes.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately manage accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure timely execution and proper documentation.
- Perform bank reconciliations and maintain updated financial records within accounting systems and Salesforce.
- Oversee payroll processing and manage employee documentation, including background checks and onboarding.
- Prepare and submit tax reports, supporting audits by organizing reconciliations and roll-forward schedules.
- Coordinate with insurance and benefits agents to ensure accurate administration of employee plans.
- Manage office operations, including supply ordering, mail handling, and tracking merchandise inventory.
- Provide customer service to visitors and maintain a welcoming environment for guests.
- Assist with tracking and filing permit and usage reports, ensuring compliance and accuracy of documentation.
- Collaborate with the organizational leadership and external vendors to ensure all financial activities are aligned and accurate.
Requirements
- Minimum of three years of detail-oriented experience in administrative and financial management.
- Proficiency in bookkeeping tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
- Familiarity with nonprofit accounting and accrual accounting principles.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with accounting and payroll systems such as Quick Books and
- Strong customer service skills and ability to interact effectively with the public.
- Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail in managing multiple tasks.
- Previous experience in human resources administration is a plus.
