Staff Accountant

Description

We are seeking a detail‑oriented and experienced Senior Staff Accountant to support the financial operations of our nonprofit organization. This role is critical to maintaining accurate financial records, supporting compliance requirements, and ensuring timely reporting across multiple funding sources.

Key Responsibilities

+ Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.

+ Manage fund accounting across multiple restricted and unrestricted funding streams.

+ Oversee grant accounting, including tracking expenditures, preparing grant reports, ensuring compliance with grantor guidelines, and supporting audit requests.

+ Complete bank reconciliations monthly and resolve discrepancies promptly.

+ Maintain and update accounting records in Questica (budgeting) and Financial Edge (accounting system).

+ Prepare supporting schedules for audits, grantor reviews, and financial statements.

+ Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes, including loading and maintaining data within Questica.

+ Support internal controls and help streamline accounting processes for efficiency and accuracy.

+ Collaborate with program and development teams to ensure proper allocation of expenses and accurate grant reporting.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

3-5+ years of nonprofit accounting experience required.

Strong knowledge of fund accounting and grant accounting.

Experience with Questica and Financial Edge preferred.

Proficiency in bank reconciliations, general ledger management, and month‑end close.

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

Ability to thrive in a deadline‑driven environment and manage multiple priorities.
