Accounts Receivable Specialist
We are seeking a detail‑oriented Accounts Receivable Specialist who will play a crucial role in ensuring revenue is accurately recorded and distributed. You will manage the DEQ‑DMV Treasury suspense account to reconcile and distribute Vehicle Inspection Program (VIP) revenues based on month‑end account cash balances. This position requires collaboration with Accounting Tech positions to facilitate daily deposit processing, revenue refund documentation, and entry of batch documents into the Statewide Financial Management System (SFMS).
Responsibilities- Reconcile regional deposits monthly and ensure timely recording of all deposits, reporting to the Revenue Accounting Manager and Revenue Accountant 2.
- Classify and record revenue to the appropriate fund and cost center, applying general accounting methods to handle complex revenue sources for accurate financial reporting.
- Review the work of the Accounting Tech daily to ensure receipts are deposited into the correct accounts.
- Initiate the transfer of deposits between interrelated accounts.
- 2‑3+ years of experience in Accounts Receivable
- Proficiency in cash applications and aging reports
- Strong data entry skills
- Experience managing multiple entities
- Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Excel Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Initiative and problem‑solving abilities
- Attention to detail
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with soft collections
- Familiarity with journal entries and GL posting
- Background in government accounting
This position offers a hybrid work schedule, beginning with two weeks in‑office training followed by a transition to a hybrid model, with one day per week required in the office.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Portland, OR.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00/hr.
