Accountant, Financial Reporting, Accounting & Finance

We are in need of a full-time Accountant to join our team at our offices outside Durbanville. We manage five companies
, each with their own set of books. You will report to the Financial Manager but will work largely independently.

We expect the successful candidate to be able to:

• Perform stock reconciliations and process related journals
• Ensure invoices are SARS compliant
• Prepare and process month-end journals
• Handle intercompany invoices and related calculations
• Maintain Hire Purchase schedules and monthly allocations
• Capture new assets on Hire Purchase agreements
• Maintain and update a large Fixed Asset Register monthly (for 4 companies)
• Calculate depreciation and process monthly depreciation journals
• Process opening balance journals after audit completion
• Reconcile internal loan accounts
• Manage rental invoicing and rent collections
• Prepare monthly VAT returns, submit VAT
  201s, and schedule payments
• Assist the Financial Manager with annual audit preparations

Requirements:

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting
• Completed Accounting or Audit Articles
• Minimum of 2 years’ post-articles experience as an Accountant or in a similar position
• Proficient in Excel
• Well-organised and adaptable
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Afrikaans and English
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Own reliable transport
• Willingness to work overtime during month-end
• Good work ethic and sober habits
• SAIPA registration will be an advantage

This position offers a market related salary – dependent on qualifications and previous experience. Employees become members of a provident fund after their 3-month probation period. The annual close down is in December/January during the builder’s holiday. Working hours are from 08:00 to 17:30, but only until 15:00 on a Friday.
