Position SummaryThe University Financial Services office (UFS), also known as the Controller Department, supports the university's mission of instruction and support by providing efficient and effective accounting and finance services and support for PSU faculty, staff, and students. The UFS team is dedicated to providing exemplary service to the campus through collaboration, partnership and teamwork.
The purpose of this position is to provide crucial accounting and administrative support to PSU departments. This role is a central point of contact for financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency across multiple systems.
The Accounting Technician is responsible for creating, reviewing, and verifying transactions related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and purchasing. This involves meticulous data entry and verification in various accounting and database systems to ensure accuracy.
On a daily basis, the Accounting Technician resolves billing and payment issues. This includes addressing discrepancies on invoices and statements by interacting with a variety of stakeholders, including vendors, customers, and university staff.
A significant part of the job is providing administrative support to the University PCard Program. This involves tasks such as reviewing transaction documentation, distributing transactions in Banner, reconciling Pcard Packets in OnBase, ensuring compliance, and assisting cardholders with inquiries.
In addition, this position acts as a liaison, providing customer service for all things related to financial transactions. A key element is using strong problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of the university's financial system to troubleshoot issues and find solutions.
The position is open only to current PSU employees.
Minimum Qualifications- 12 quarter hours (8 semester hours) of Accounting courses AND
- An Associates Degree in Accounting AND
- One year of experience that includes entering, compiling and/or reporting financial information OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with PSU systems such as Banner, OnBase, Payment Works

Work Days/HoursMonday-Friday 8am-5pm
Total Compensation Range & Benefits StatementThe starting salary rate for this position will be between $19.36 and $21.91 per hour. The starting salary may be negotiable above this range, however it will be dependent upon the knowledge, experience, skills and abilities of the chosen candidate, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
PSU's excellent benefits package includes 95% premium paid healthcare; a generous retirement and vacation package; and reduced tuition rates for employee, spouse or dependent at any of the Oregon Public Universities.
